Our Pulkapulkka Kari Flexible Aged Care facility – or PPK, as it is affectionately known – offers a flexible aged care program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and those who are identified as members of the community. We have 25 beds in 15 single or double rooms. Floor-to-ceiling windows ensure the rooms are light-filled, and all have access to verandas, a garden and grassy areas where you can enjoy the fresh air and sunshine, or join the yarning circle.
Our seven-day activities program is flexible, and developed around the interests of and requests from our residents. Activities may include going out to collect bush medicine or firewood to cook roo tail, bush turkey, goanna and damper, or art and craft in our airy art room. A bus is available for various outings. A newly constructed community room provides a comfortable space to facilitate activities such as cooking, gumnut handicrafts, and exercise or computer skills for residents and community members.
You’ll hear a lot of happy conversation, singing and laughter at PPK Tennant Creek, with staff taking the time to sit down and yarn. At PPK, we value our personal touches. The emphasis is on individual choice and freedom, and we’ll support you to visit country and family in any of the town camps or simply go for a walk. At ARRCS Pulkapulkka Kari Flexible Aged Care, there is always plenty to enjoy.
